Director of Information Technology/Data Manager

Job Title : Director of Information Technology and Database Manager

Location : RSU #20, Searsport, Maine

Job Type : Full-Time | 222 day administrative contract

Reports To : Superintendent

Key Responsibilities

IT Leadership

  • Serve as the IT leader in the RSU #20.
  • Develop and implement a district-wide IT strategy aligned with educational goals.
  • Develop and implement an annual, district-wide IT budget.
  • Manage and support district-wide network infrastructure, hardware, software, and cloud-based systems.
  • Oversee procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of IT equipment.
  • Supervise IT staff and coordinate technology support across RSU #20.
  • Ensure reliable and secure access to digital learning tools and student information systems.
  • Lead information and cybersecurity efforts and data privacy compliance (FERPA, COPPA, etc.).
  • Provide in-service programs on computer uses and programs for school staff.
  • Advise Administrative Team on software and hardware purchases.
  • Work with technology integrators in planning, goal setting, and curriculum integration.

Data Management

  • Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of student, staff, and operational data.
  • Manage Student Information Systems (SIS) and other data platforms.
  • Create custom data reports and dashboards for district leadership, teachers, and parents.
  • Train staff in data literacy and system usage.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
  • Maintain e-mail/collaboration/web server(s).
  • Provide in-service training for e-mail, collaboration, web server, and SIS database(s).
  • Develop standards and guidelines for use and acquisition of RSU #20 email, database, and web resources.
  • Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to RSU #20 email, database, and web resources, such as the consolidation/installation of new databases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT leadership, preferably in a K–12 educational setting.
  • Deep understanding of SIS platforms (e.g., PowerSchool, Infinite Campus), learning management systems, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong budgetary, communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices related to educational data and information technology in K-12 public education setting.
  • Experience managing 1:1 student device programs.

  • Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policies.
