Job Summary

We’re currently hiring a part-time Pet Care Technician to join our weekday pack in Metro Detroit. This role is ideal for active retirees who want to stay busy, get outdoors, connect with pets, and make a meaningful difference — all while working Monday–Friday between 9am and 4pm, with occasional weekend options. You’ll be responsible for walking dogs, caring for cats and other pets, and making pet parents’ lives a little easier (and a lot more joyful).

Location: Metro Detroit (Franklin, Bloomfield Hills, West Bloomfiedl, and nearby areas)

Responsibilities and Duties

• Walk dogs of all sizes using safe, structured handling methods
• Provide in-home pet sitting visits including feeding, medication, litter cleaning, enrichment, and love
• Write brief but heartfelt visit reports with photos after each service using our app
• Communicate with clients and the team using Slack, Time to Pet, and other tech tools
• Follow safety protocols, client preferences, and company policies with care and professionalism
• Notice and report any unusual behavior or concerns (we’re the eyes and ears for pet parents!)
• Be willing to work in all types of Michigan weather — we provide the training and you bring the gear!

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

• Genuine love of animals and comfort working with dogs and cats of all temperaments
• Physical ability to walk dogs and be on your feet several hours a day
• Strong communication and people skills — both written and verbal
• Tech-friendly (Slack, mobile apps, time clock, photo uploads, AI tools like Ask Pam)
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a smartphone
• Availability Monday–Friday from 9am–4pm (part-time hours within that window)
  
   

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in pet care (professional or volunteer)
• Rescue or behavior background
• Pet First Aid + CPR (or willingness to be certified through us)
