Job Description

Key is seeking a Learning Specialist and Instructional Coach to join our Lower School Learning Department for the 2025-2026 academic year. Under the leadership of the Learning Department Head, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping student learning, understanding their impact and seeking out professional development and support to increase their effectiveness. They will be an instructional leader, using interventions grounded in research to support student learning, and will have a passion for culturally responsive teaching, experiential learning, and differentiated instruction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates coaching cycles with homeroom and co-curricular teachers centered around student-growth goals, including observation, feedback, co-teaching, and/or modeling.
  • Empowers students to understand their learning processes, apply effective strategies and interventions.
  • Leads content specific professional learning communities for teachers.
  • Supports teachers’ achievement goals, as needed, by effectively employing coaching strategies that gradually release responsibility for implementing to the teacher (i.e. co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, observing).
  • Collaborates with teachers to establish and facilitate grade-level curriculum standards.
  • Plans lessons and prepares materials for student small group support, adjusting for student needs.
  • Coordinates weekly or bi-weekly with homeroom teachers, department head, and division heads.
  • Keeps notes and records of student progress.
  • Assesses and evaluates students using a variety of formative and summative assessment tools.
  • Conducts and reviews admissions testing and files to assist admissions decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of education (a Master’s Degree and/or instructional coaching experience preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge of andragogy practices, and experience facilitating professional learning communities
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment

Compensation/Benefits:

Key School follows a Faculty Equity Scale that recognizes direct years of experience that correlates to the steps on the scale. The salary range for this position is $46,820-$88,305 and is based upon several factors that include, but not limited to, the candidate’s years of work experience, education and skills. There are additional opportunities on campus for coaching and various stipends as well.

Technical Competencies:

All candidates for teaching positions should be familiar with learning management systems such as Seesaw and Google Classroom and have the ability to create and deliver engaging multimedia content using a variety of digital tools. Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. Candidates should be proficient in using Google applications, have a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, and efficiently manage email and scheduling using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should be proficient in virtual communication tools such as Zoom or Google meet and have basic troubleshooting skills to resolve common technical issues that may arise in the classroom.

Work Schedule/Travel:

Occasionally, there may be business and school functions that will require your presence to work flexible hours, including nights and/or weekends and travel outside of Annapolis.
