Job Overview – Orthopedic Hand Surgeon (MD):
Compensation: $450,000 – $550,000/year
Location: Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Step into a key surgical role as an Orthopedic Hand Surgeon (MD) with our client’s expanding care team, with full-time opportunities available in Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island. This position focuses on diagnosing and treating complex hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions, especially for Workers’ Compensation and No-Fault cases. You’ll perform advanced surgical procedures, collaborate across disciplines, and support patients through recovery to restore function and improve quality of life.
Responsibilities as the Orthopedic Hand Surgeon (MD): - Clinical Evaluation: Diagnose hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions using physical exams and imaging tools.
- Surgical Procedures: Perform specialized surgeries, including tendon repairs, carpal tunnel release, and microsurgery.
- Treatment Planning: Create customized surgical and non-surgical care plans based on diagnostic results.
- Post-Operative Management: Oversee recovery, adjust treatment as needed, and guide patients through rehabilitation.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with PM&R physicians, PAs, and other specialists to deliver integrated care.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate records and clearly explain diagnoses, procedures, and recovery steps.
Qualifications for the Orthopedic Hand Surgeon (MD): - Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited medical school with completion of an orthopedic surgery residency.
- Licensure: Active New York State medical license is required.
- Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery with a fellowship or specialized training in Hand Surgery.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in orthopedic surgery, including at least 2 years specializing in hand and upper extremity procedures.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in complex hand surgeries, including microsurgery, nerve repair, and reconstruction (knowledge of EMR systems preferred).
- Skills & Attributes: Patient-focused and collaborative with strong surgical judgment and a commitment to clinical excellence.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with New York State Workers’ Compensation and No-Fault Insurance guidelines is preferred.
